Glossary
The words HealthyRides uses for people, rides, bids and payers, and what each one means.
The words HealthyRides uses on its screens and in these docs, grouped by topic.
People
Scheduler
A facility-side user who books trips, picks bids and messages the carrier.
Facility Admin
A Scheduler who also manages the facility organization's users, facilities and reports.
Dispatcher
A provider-side user who bids, declines, releases and assigns crew.
Provider Admin
A Dispatcher who also manages the provider organization's users, capability profile and credentials.
Crew
The provider-side people who carry out a ride and record its punches.
Facility job titles
Care coordinator
A facility job title that holds the Scheduler role; a name for that role, not a role of its own.
Discharge planner
A facility job title that holds the Scheduler role; a name for that role, not a role of its own.
Social worker
A facility job title that holds the Scheduler role; a name for that role, not a role of its own.
Health unit coordinator
A facility job title, also written HUC or HUCK, that holds the Scheduler role; a name for that role, not a role of its own.
ER assistant
A facility job title that holds the Scheduler role; a name for that role, not a role of its own.
Patients
Patient
A person a facility organization transports, held once per facility organization and never shared across organizations.
SMS consent
A patient's current permission to receive texts, being the latest of the grants and revocations recorded against them. It never decides whether a trip can be booked.
Booking
Trip
What a facility books and providers bid on: one ride (one-way) or an outbound and a return ride (round trip). A trip has no status of its own; its state is read from its rides.
Ride
A single transport from one origin to one destination, and the unit that is executed, punched, graded and released. Called the outbound or return ride when direction matters.
Diagnosis list
The single list of ICD-10-CM codes for a trip's episode of care, shared by every ride in the trip.
Diagnosis favourites
A facility organization's own short list of ICD-10-CM codes, managed by its Facility Admin, ranked first in the diagnosis search and never a limit on it.
HCC flag
The CMS-HCC V28 payment HCC shown beside an ICD-10-CM code in the diagnosis search, from CMS's mapping file: blank when the code has none, "HCC not yet mapped" when the code is newer than the mapping.
Pickup point
A saved, named place at one facility where a crew collects a patient, such as an entrance or a zone of a campus, with its own address and floor/room presets. Its geofence radius may only widen its facility's, and is copied onto the ride at posting.
Zone
A pickup point that covers part of a large campus rather than one door; the reason a pickup point may widen the facility's geofence. Not a unit or department.
Tier
The level of vehicle and crew a ride needs: MICU, ALS, BLS, stretcher van, wheelchair van, or car.
Acuity
The clinical sub-type of an ALS or BLS ride: emergent or non-emergent. Not urgency.
ASAP
A trip's scheduling urgency: posted for immediate pickup and offered to every standing at once. Not acuity.
Room preset
A facility's saved floor/room string that intake fills a ride's room with; free text still works.
Transport requirement
A need the patient brings to any tier, such as bariatric, oxygen, stairs or isolation.
Ride status
Available
A ride open to bids, whether or not any bids exist yet.
Scheduled
A ride whose trip has a picked bid; crew assignment does not change it.
In Progress
A ride whose crew has made its first punch and not yet completed.
Completed
A ride the crew has finished; nothing follows it.
Cancelled
A ride that will not run, with a reason recorded.
Unassigned
An attention state, not a status: an Available ride past its pick deadline, or released with no new pick.
Execution
Punch
A crew member's recorded milestone on a ride, with device time, server time and location.
Milestone
One of the punch types, in order: en route, at door, at nurses desk, waiting (patient not ready), departed, arrived, handed off, complete.
Event journal
The complete, time-ordered, permanent history of one ride, assembled from every record that names it: actions, punches, messages and notification deliveries.
Quality
Standing
A provider's quality band (Gold, Silver or Bronze) derived from its HealthyScore, which sets how early it sees newly posted scheduled trips.
Marketplace
Bid
A provider's offer to carry a trip's Available rides: an ETA at the nurses desk for each, plus an optional rate quote and note.
Pick
The facility's choice of one bid on a trip; every other bid on that trip is then not picked.
Pick deadline
The moment a ride's live bids lapse and, if nothing is picked, the ride turns Unassigned and is re-broadcast to every standing: 2 hours before pickup for a scheduled ride unless its facility set its own (fixed for the ride when it is posted), 30 minutes after posting for an ASAP one.
Decline
A provider's own statement that it will not bid on a trip; it affects only that provider's boards, never the trip's rides.
Rate quote
The amount and basis a provider states on its bid; informational only, since the platform never sets, collects or settles a price.
Network
The providers a facility organization lets bid on its trips: every capability-matched provider except those it has removed, with a reason.
Provider request
A Facility Admin's proposal that a provider not yet on the platform be brought onto it: the provider's name, admin email and an optional note. A Platform Admin approves it, by onboarding the provider, or rejects it with a reason the facility sees; it is decided once, nothing is created until approval, and an approved provider joins the shared Network like any other, not only the requesting facility's.
Organization agreement
The business associate agreement or the terms of service, at one version, which an organization's administrator click-signs with a typed name and title on the organization's behalf. Until the current version of both is signed the organization is inactive: its administrator sees the agreement page and everyone else a waiting page. The platform and demo organizations sign nothing.
Credential
One document from the credentialing checklist (insurance, operating authority for a tier, NPI, business license, vehicle roster, W-9), recorded with its expiry and verified by a Platform Admin. A Provider Admin uploads the file; the credential is under review until verified, and keeps the file once it is.
Capability profile
The tiers a provider can run (on ALS and BLS, the sub-types too), its service radius and its credentials; a tier is active only while every credential it needs is verified and unexpired. The service radius is set at onboarding (and changed only through an approved capability change request), measured from the provider's geocoded base, and gates the board only when both the pickup and the base have coordinates.
Capability change request
A Provider Admin's request to change the provider's base address or service radius after onboarding, which applies only once a Platform Admin approves it; it carries nothing else, since a new tier or sub-type is asked for by uploading its operating authority.
Operating hours
The weekly hours a provider takes rides, set by its Provider Admin in the provider's time zone. They mark a ride on the Available board whose pickup falls outside them and never hide it or stop a bid; an ASAP ride ignores them, and a "Ride posted" notice outside them is queued to the next opening, never dropped.
Carrier
The provider whose picked bid covers a ride; the two rides of one trip can have different carriers after a release.
Release
A carrier giving back a Scheduled ride, which returns that ride alone to Available.
Payers
Payer
Who pays the provider for a trip: the patient's insurance, the facility or the patient. Every trip states it before anyone bids, and it is informational only, since the platform does not settle money.
Insurance class
Which of Medicare, Medicaid or Private an insurance payer is, picked from that closed list beside the plan and never read off the plan's name.
Payer class
The payer as a provider sees it before bidding: the insurance class for an insurance payer, otherwise Facility-paid or Self-pay, and never the plan or member ID.
Coverage
One insurance a patient holds, primary or secondary, with its plan, member ID and insurance class. Whether it pays for a given transport depends on the plan, the diagnosis, the level of service and prior authorization, which the platform never decides.
Accepted payers
The payer classes a provider prefers to carry, declared by the provider and not shown to facilities. A business preference, not a coverage determination: they rank the provider's Available board and hide nothing unless the provider opts in.
